Is writing articles a part of your marketing?

I remember when I went from a monthly to a weekly newsletter. Friends would email me and say, "how do you churn out all those articles every week?"

Actually, once you get into the habit of writing a regular article, it becomes much easier than you think.

You also start thinking in article-writing mode so every time something happens you think, "I can use that in an article" and you make a note in your notebook.

(I still have to write an article called, "how a time management expert misses her flight" - that was from Dublin, Ireland).

I was checking my stats on http://ezinearticles.com the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see that I'm:

12 out of 755 in the organising category with 16 articles
12 out of 1252 in the time management category with 14 articles

My goal is obviously to increase my rankings in each of those categories.

Click on the ezinearticles button on the sidebar <------- to check them out if you're so inclined :)

Writing articles was a big part of my marketing this year. My goal was actually to submit 24 new articles (2 per month) but I managed to reach my goal in July/ August, so I now have 41 articles on that site.

So, which do YOU prefer? Using speaking or writing as a marketing tool?

(I'd love to hear from Beth, Suzanne and Janet)

I prefer writing, just because I communicate better head to hands, then head to mouth. I have been training my 16 yr old son to submit articles and other work related stuff.

Being 70% introvert, I much prefer writing over speaking. It gives me more time to develop my message and make sure it clearly communicates what I'm trying to say.

Beth, I love how you said...

Janet, I took your quiz - we are exact opposites - I'm 70% extrovert, 30% introvert

I prefer speaking but I like to get my thoughts in a logical pattern by writing first :)

Article marketing has been a very effective strategy for my business. One of my goals for next year is to be more consistent and frequent with it.

I used to enjoy public speaking very much when I was younger and love the excitement of thinking on my feet (I competed in drama, debate and forensics), but now I prefer writing to speaking mostly because I work from home with three kids and arranging teleseminars or speaking engagements would be quite a juggling act for me right now. :)

Hey Michelle

I can picture the juggling act and it makes me smile :)

I didn't know you were involved in drama and the like - cooooool...

I have written frequently for a year now as part of my marketing strategy. I enjoy it, and I've educated a lot of people, so they tell me anyway, but I have not gotten even one good prospect from it. Not ready to give up on it yet though!
