Announcing the 2008 Goals Coaching Programme

This is an ideal opportunity to set your goals for 2008 and get accountability and support while achieving them.

Perception & looking on the bright side

My husband emailed me to say someone at his work just resigned without having another job lined up.


[background - in South Africa, this is rare because our unemployment rates are so high. I don't have stats because I believe that employers all over South Africa would love to have me work for them and will pay me mega-bucks to do so. Hey - if I don't believe it, why should they?!]

So I sent him an email saying, "that's so brave of her".


I'd just clicked send when I realised that others could also think it's crazy of her!


It's all in perception, you see. That's why a negative situation can always have a bright side.


For me, I'm looking on the bright side with being booked off for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS to recover from the surgery. I have

  1. finished a new e-course
  2. am halfway through a new coaching programme
  3. emails are up to date
  4. I've read LOTS of books
  5. vegging with Oprah and Rachael Ray
  6. we're 90% ready for Christmas
  7. have done lots of website maintenance
  8. have lots of draft blog posts, ready to publish

Overcoming negative self-talk

Does this sound familiar?

  1. I can't do that.
  2. I have no choice.
  3. They always do this.
  4. I'm too old.
  5. I'm too young.
  6. I'm too fat.
  7. I don't have experience.

These are some of the negative things we say to ourselves every day.

I heard once that 50 000 messages flash through our minds every single day. Wow!

Now imagine if even just 10% of those messages were negative? That's a huge mountain of self-doubt to climb!

What if you started changing it around? Say...
  1. I can do it. If I get stuck, I can always ask for help.
  2. I do have a choice. I will accept responsibility for my life.
  3. Yes, I am overweight but from today, I will start doing just ONE thing every week to take care of myself better.
You would be empowered with taking your life back, feel better about yourself and actually get more done so you can move towards your goals.

Every time you catch yourself saying something negative, STOP and rephrase what you just said. Make it a habit and you'll soon not even need the self-confidence shower curtain :)

Works for me ANY day - chicken stir-fry


I don't like meals that take a lot of time to prepare.
Complicated + Marcia = NOT good
So while everything I make takes about 30 - 45 mins max, this is one of my no-fail easy meals.
Stir-fry some chicken and lots of veggies. I like onion, mushroom, broccoli, pumpkin (try it - you'll love it) and spinach.
If I have some rice, I prefer to serve it with rice. But if I don't and I'm going to be late for the gym, then I pull out 2-minute noodles, zap those in the microwave and serve over noodles.
To be honest, Dion likes the noodles better than the rice anyway but I like the healthiness of brown rice.
