Time Travel Tuesday

Annie, thank you for hosting this.

As with most other things in my life, I made a really quick decision on blogging and just jumped in! I also wanted a place for my church ministry (I help people to discover their God-given gifts and passion in my “spare” time) to post pictures, notices, and so on so I jumped into the whole blogging thing without much thought. In retrospect...I probably would have done it that way again but I would have given just a tad more thought to the blog name and URL.

I first stumbled across a business blog (incidentally, that blog fizzled after about 2 – 3 months) very late in 2005 and that was my entrance to the blogging business. I started reading mommy blogs immediately. I thought that blogging was a great idea and set mine up early in 2006. As you can see, not much has changed in terms of fancy layouts and all the fun stuff ;)

In the beginning, I'll confess that blogging sometimes seemed like more of a burden than a pleasure. And yet I really love writing. I’ve always been really good at keeping in contact with friends through letters (in the old days) and then through email. Late last year, I eventually got my blogging rhythm going and now I’m comfortable and I enjoy it very, very much.

Here is my first post – no great shakes, just playing around…

Now if you're still reading... I want your advice.

1. This was my first blog and still is my main blog in many respects.
2. I started the organising blog shortly after this one because I like categories in my life as you may have guessed ;) and I wanted a place to put my tips.
3. I actually have been feeling a bit torn lately with blogging as I would like to have only one blog. Since blogger beta arrived, I can now categorise to my heart’s content.
4. I have the two main blogs and an anonymous one (I know a couple of you have found it but thanks for keeping quiet and pretending you don’t know about the other one!).Thing is, the organising tips blog is now very popular (by my low blogging standards and in comparison to this one).
5. But this one is on my business cards and I still have a lot left!

So what do you think?
Would you combine the two?
Which blog would you move everything to?
Would you start a new blog?
Any other suggestions?

Whether or not you combine them is really up to you. If you post about equally you might not want to do it. At one point I think I had three or four blogs. Then I combined my two main ones and deleted the others since I never used them.

If you think one might overshadow the other - you might not want to do it.

You know I initially thought I would just have one eclectic blog, but I've already started another and am planning a third. I haven't decided if the third will be connected or even on Blogger. Depends on how "private" I finally decide to be.

So my two cents--Keep them separate. Unless of course you really want to combine them. LOL--not so helpful.

Hi Marcia,
First I'll address your question...
I would leave them separate, at least for now. I know it is a hassle to update on multiple blogs, but you do have the cards already printed. I have mine, Izzy's blog, and have just made a third that will be only recipes I try, change up and like mainly for linking reasons on mpm and also so I don't lose or forget how I made them. I guess your organizing is rubbing off on me.

I'm glad you are a blogger, I enjoy your tips, your encouragement to be more organized...more than that I enjoy you. You are a really nice person I'm glad to have become friends with... bloggy or otherwise.

I'm too new at blogging to even begin to give advice on your questions. I have enjoyed visiting your blog.

Hello Marcia,

First, thank you for delurking over at my place. I appreciate knowing you've been reading my blog.

The general concensus seems to be that you should keep your blogs separate for now. But I don't know if I agree.

I've had several people suggest I start a second blog strictly for my cooking tutorials and household tips. I don't think I ever will.

I'm so pushed to keep up with one blog that the thought of keeping up with multiple blogs makes me twitch. So for me, it's easier and seemingly just as effective to say everything I have to say in my one little blog.

In your case, more than one blog seems to work for you. So like everyone else, I think the way you're set up now is probably what works best for you.

Thanks again for delurking. :-)
