January goal update - to grow spiritually

Last night as I was reading my Bible in bed, I thought about how this month has gone.

When I started out, I had 3 things that I thought could help me grow spiritually:

1. Read Bible everyday
2. Listen to teaching tape every week
3. Listen to one worship CD every week

I am happy to report that I have read my Bible each and every day - the last week or so, it has been automatic to grab my Bible first before my "for pleasure" book, which I do read every day. Which just goes to show that habits do form in roughly 21 days.

I was interviewed for Get-It magazine on Sunday and the journalist asked me about my reading after she saw my goals list (y'all know I'm not shy - I'm very open and she had a good look at all of it). Well, I told her that I set personal reading goals every month (doesn't everybody?! - just kidding). If you must know, my goal is 7 books every month - 5 fiction and 2 non-fiction.

I have been listening to Barry Smith's series on The Christian Family every Sunday while preparing my
menu plan and veggies for the week. While I'm not done yet, it has been lovely having some quiet kitchen time by myself. I'm usually in and out of there in less than 30 minutes during the week, so on the weekend, it's nice to take my time and try out some new recipes.

Now this is the best. The more I listened to Christian worship, the more I wanted to. I have been through so many CDs this month and remember I'm only about 15 - 18 mins from work and I catch up on the news and traffic report (if you live in Jhb, you know that's a must) too. So other than a genuine 80s song that I love, I don't even bother with the radio. And it has calmed me down in the traffic, big time!

So that's where I'm at - I'm very happy with my progress so far this year. In fact, that's an understatement because I'm ecstatic.

How about you?
