World Cup fiasco for France

OH... MY... WORD!

I still can't believe what happened last night.

For those of you who didn't watch, Italy won the World Cup Final and I was sooooo disappointed.

In my opinion, France lost it when their captain head-butted the Italian guy. I could NOT believe it. Yes, I know there must have been some provocation but Zidane was wrong.

  1. First off, he was the captain and at the very least should have been setting a good example as a leader.
  2. Secondly, it was not a round 1 match - it was the FINAL, for goodness sake. You just don't do dumb things at that point.
  3. Thirdly, knowing that he was retiring, he should have had his emotions under control. I know this is asking a lot of soccer players LOL. If it had been me, I would have wanted to retire in the best possible way. Crazy me :)
What was important at that precise point was for him to respond in a WINning way. WIN stands for What's Important Now.
He clearly didn't think in a WINning way (what's important now?)

Right afterwards, you could see that the body language of the French team was different. They were already defeated and I would have been very surprised to see them win after that.

So hat's off to Italy but what a sad way to go, isn't it?

Just to set the record straight....My comment does not mean that I agree with his behaviour! However, the man was provoked and we all know by now about the speculations that "the Italian" insulted Z's mother/sister. His mother was apparently in hospital at the time(the severity and nature of her illness unknown). I don't blame him for his actions, his natural male instinct,i.e. to defend, kicked in.

PS! Shame on the Italians if they did win such a prestigious title by playing dirty! Sweet victory? -I personally think not!

I am female and I watched the entire game
